Caregiver Burnout

Uncompensated caregivers are the base of the pyramid for many chronic illnesses like Alzheimer’s, diabetes, Parkinson’s, and depression, and the caregivers themselves are burning out. Burnout is a syndrome of profound exhaustion where vital energy, resilience, a sense of joy, hope, and life purpose vanish. The annual cost of physician and caregiver burnout in the U.S. is in the $ billions. BHT is currently collaborating with a local Santa Barbara non-profit organization, Adventures in Caring, to develop twin apps to restore vitality and resilience for caregivers. The CHME offers an effective and affordable means to bring this an antidote rapidly to all those in need.

Statistics presented by the World Economic Forum citing studies by the World Health Organization confirm that the annual global costs of workplace burnout are £255 billion, suggesting that burnout could reach pandemic proportions within a decade. As suggested in the above diagram, burnout is a complex phenomenon with many contributing factors and consequences. For this reason, an effective antidote to burnout has the potential to generate an extremely large Community Health Multiplier effect.

BHT’s Introductory program combines two core methodologies—Oxygen for Caregivers by Adventures for Caring (AIC) and Big Heart Intelligence (BHI) that take account of, but substantially advance, best present practices for stress reduction and other modalities.  Protocols for tracking the effectiveness of the Burnout Antidote Protocol are based on the Maslach Burnout Inventory Assessment and Questionnaire.
